National parks in Ohio
Every national park and public-land unit in Ohio, scored and ranked by our Experience Score.
Ohio's National Park Service units have almost nothing in common with each other, and that's precisely what makes them worth building a trip around. Cuyahoga Valley anchors the northeast as the state's only full National Park, pulling in families with its trails, waterways, and enough to do that a weekend barely covers it. From there, the other units scatter into very different corners of the state. Perry's Victory sits on an island in Lake Erie, pairing open water views with a soaring memorial and surprisingly good stargazing. The Hopewell Culture sites are tucked into the quiet farm country of south-central Ohio, preserving some of the most significant ancient earthworks in North America. Canton's First Ladies Historic Site and Dayton Aviation Heritage draw urban visitors who want guided, story-driven experiences rather than trail miles. Running through all of it, the North Country National Scenic Trail gives serious long-distance hikers a backbone route across the state. Ohio tends to reward people who sense history just beneath the landscape and who bother to do a little research before they show up.
